Day 9 began with an early departure from Caboolture - We had get out before the airfield was closed for the second day of the air show.

The plan was to track coastal and eventually make our way out to the Whitsundays and island hop. Once level with Shute Harbour we would cross back to the mainland and land.  The low level island hop had been something we had tried on two previous SMB trips but we had been foiled by the weather on both occasions. At this point evenrything looked good for a final success.

The coastal scenery is just as spectacular as it was further south and made for a brilliant day's flying.

Tin Can Bay                                                                                       Bundaberg
The Whitsunday Islands proved just as picturesque as we had expected with brilliant blue ocean and green islands rimmed by white sand.   Finally we had managed to fly the Whitsundays!
