Day Four  -  Karumba to Mt. Isa

Although the plan was for a very short day of flying we struck head winds which managed to push the time for the 208 nm leg out a bit, especially for the slower aircraft.

Lance hitched a ride with John in the R22. The R22 really isn't meant for long distance touring with two adults, luggage and  spare fuel in jerries. So Martin flew his C172 solo while carrying all John's gear.   We needed a stop-over at Kamileroi Station to top up the R22 from jerries and then on to Mt. Isa.

The afternoon was "enlightened" by a very monotonous tour of the Mt. Isa mine by bus.  We are still perplexed by the tour requirements. When we booked the tour by phone we were told we must all wear covered shoes. No problem.
When we picked up the tickets at the tour depot a sign says "All tour patrons must wear covered shoes".  The tickets have printed in big letters "Must have covered shoes".
We get on a big tour bus, get driven around the mine area for 2 hours and then go back to the depot and get off the bus!  Who knows what nasty things could have happened to our feet on that bus if we had bare feet.

The underground mine tour, which we were told about when booking turned out not to be open to the public yet. Come back later in the year!

All in all somewhat disappointing....but  you win some and lose some!
