Day Nine -   Longreach  to Cairns

Morning  saw low cloud and scattered showers but the wind had dropped dramatically. So without giving the weather time to change we saddled up and headed for Hughenden.  The plan to go via Winton was dropped.

The track into Hugenden was through scattered cloud but nothing that caused any problem.   Hughenden was in light showers when we arrived, cleared a bit for the refuelling then started to rain again just as we departed.  Hughenden saw the only mechanical problem that we had for the trip.  A blown fuse in my clutch actuator.  A quick look revealed the problem and Kerry came to the rescue with a new one and we were away.

As home got closer the faster aircraft put the nose over and followed the needle.  I had to make a landing to top up the tanks from my jerries at Mt. Garnet so I was the last to arrive home.

A wet Longreach tarmac.         The cloud stayed with us to Hughenden                  Refuelling  at Hughenden
