We departed Barcaldine with cloud thickening above us. The cloud was very high but by the time we reached Charleville was as good as 8/8' of high thin clouds.
This did not bode well for the planned visit to the Cosmos Centre that night for some telescope aided star-gazing.
After we arrived at Charleville and refuelled we were picked up and taken to the Charleville Pub for lunch. Not a bad way to spend an hour or so - sitting on the verandah with a view down mainstreet Charleville.
After lunch we had a quick tour of the sites of Charleville including the Steiger Vortex Guns that were used in an ill fated attempt to make rain during a drought and then we settled back for a quiet afternoon.
The cloud continued and the visit to the Cosmos Centre ended up being cancelled.
